A native East Texan, earned his B.A. in economics from East Texas State University in 1964. He also holds the M.S. and Ph.D. in economics from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Funderburk has over thirty years experience teaching at East Texas State University/Texas A&M University-Commerce.

He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the areas of macroeconomic theory and policy; public policy economics; money, banking and financial markets and monetary theory.

Dr Funderburk has published articles in such journals as The Appraisal Journal, Journal of Economics, Journal of Forensic Economics, The Real Estate Appraiser and Analyst, the National Social Science Journal, Antitrust Law and Economics Review, Trial, and even The Quarter Horse Journal. He has presented papers and guest lectures at conferences and universities as far away as China, India and Lebanon. In 2004 he was named the "AGBA Global Educator of the Year" by the Academy for Global Business Advancement in New Delhi, India.

Dr. Funderburk has served on numerous university committees and councils. He is a member of such professional organizations as The National Social Science Association, American Economic Association, National Association of Forensic Economists, the Academy for Global Business Advancement and others. He is also very active in the area of business consulting.

Dr. Funderburk and his wife, Carol, live in Commerce, and travel the world extensively whenever the university is not in session. He collects fountain pens, antique clocks and oriental rugs.
