The above pictures were taken when Trey and I demoed for HiFonics together
at the 1995 Texas Heat Wave Show in Austin, Texas. This was the Blazer's first
show after its reconstuction following the 1994 fire. Notice, it still sports
the four hydraulic powered alternators. --Jason
These two pictures were taken on the last day (Sunday) of the 1994 IASCA Finals
at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. This happened to be the
day of the fire that destroyed the system. Trey had recently purchased the
blazer/system from its original owner/builder, Gerald Kirkland.
THE FIRE
On the way home from the Finals, the ramps used to load the Blazer in its
enclosed trailer came loose underneath the truck inside the trailer. Apparently,
when the trailer hit a bump, the ramps bounced up and hit a main power wire
running under the truck which broke the insulation on the wire. A direct short
against the frame resulted causing a fire in the interior of the vehicle.
The enclosed trailer was airtight, which prevented any smoke from being visible
to indicate that there was a fire. However, because it was airtight, the fire
was slow, and while the truck's interior was slowly converted to ashes, the
incredible exterior paint job was unharmed. When Trey arrived home, there
was still no indication of the fire, so he disconnected from the trailer and
it was several days before he opened the trailer to discover the disaster.
Fortunately, Trey was able to overcome the setback and rebuild the Blazer
with yet another incredible HiFonics system!
