Dr. Holmes has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from East Texas State University awarded in December of 1965, Master’s degree in Economics from East Texas State University awarded in May of 1967, and Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A& M University – College Station awarded in December of 1978. Dr. Holmes has been an instructor of Economics at Texas A&M University – Commerce since 2008. His areas of specialization include Micro and Macro Economics, Urban and Regional Economics, Monetary Policy, History of Economic Thought and Industrial Organization. He has published several articles and has presented economic concepts in many professional symposiums.
Dr. Holmes also spent 27 years working in the corporate sector. From 1978 to 1994 he was Assistant Vice President of Marketing Services with GTE and from 1994 to 1996 he served as Director of Product Development and Marketing for Tandem Computers. From 1996 through 2005 he was Vice President of Business Development for Oracle Corporation.
Dr. Holmes has taught at Texas A&M University in College Station and I.U.P.U.I. in Indianapolis. He led a Computer Technology training mission for Tandem Computers in Beijing, China and led a team of consultants for USAID in Cairo, Egypt. He has won special achievement awards while at GTE and Oracle Corporation. His areas of special interest are business forecasting and business process economics research.
