Reading and Assignment Schedule

English 508, Fall, 2007

Dr. Susan Stewart

Please note that you should have the texts read on the day indicated. For instance, when you come to class on 8/28, you should have read If you Come Softly and Chapter 4 of Desiring Whiteness (see e-mail sent to class on August 15; if you haven't received that e-mail, contact me at susan_stewart@tamu-commerce.edu or stop by my office

A word about the readings: While many of the critical texts deal specifically with the accompanying novels (for instance, Tangerine and "Blinded by the White"), that is not always the case. Sometimes, there will be little or no connection, which makes for a less linear approach. I have chosen this approach because a one-to-one correspondence between the novels and critical apparatus will limit our understanding of the issues that are central to this course.

Also, the Article/Chapter Presentations for weeks 1 and 2 will be from Desiring Whiteness

Supplemental readings are located in eCollege in document sharing. They are also available in the English Department office near the copy machine.
