Dr. Varadraj Gurupur received his PhD in Computer Engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Alabama at Brimingham. His doctoral dissertation is based on the idea of bridging the semantic gap for software systems in the area of biomedical research. He is currently employed as a senior Information Systems Specialist for the Department of Neurology at the UAB School of Medicine. He previously worked for the University of Alabama at Brimingham, school of medicine, Alzheimer's disease Research Center as a senior program coordinator from April 2007 to september 2010. During this period he was responsible for managing Critical information related to the Alzheimer's disease research. His current research includes improving the state of health care systems using semantic web technology.
