Technology Application Standards For All Beginning Teachers

Standard I.  All teachers use technology related terms, concepts, data input strategies, and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications.

Standard II.  All teachers identify task requirements, apply search strategies, and use current technology to efficiently acquire, analyze, and evaluate a variety of electronic information.

Standard III.  All teachers use task appropriate tools to synthesize knowledge, create and modify solutions, and evaluate results in a way that supports the work of individuals and groups in problem solving situations.

Standard IV.  All teachers communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.

Standard V.  All teachers know how to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate instruction for all students that incorporates the effective use of current technology for teaching and integrating the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)  into the curriculum.

Standard I.
1.1s
Using different types of software for grade management and student productivity. Examples include: Power Point, Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, Eclass.
1.2s
Showing use of secondary storage devices by using backup disks for school and home projects
1.3s
By searching for resources that are appropriate for the grade level and content area I teach I have found that I am able to evaluate software for specific tasks.
1.4s
When saving files, I have to make sure that they are compatible with the programs I have on my computer.  If not, I must save in a different format.
1.5s
By using the internet I have developed terminology related to technology. I learned terms such as upload and download.
1.6s
It seems that I am opening, saving, printing, book marking, etc. almost everyday when using software programs.
1.7s
Hope to address this standard throughout my courses while completing M.S.
1.8s
In most of my graduate classes, I have had to work at home from the internet. I have become familiar with many search engines as well as terminology related to the internet.
1.9s
LANS are local area networks. WANs are much larger networks which encompass several LANS. An internet is available for anyone who wants to access vast amounts of information. An intranet is designed for safety. Only persons within that network, hopefully, are able to access computers, this prevents illicit happenings, such as gathering confidential information or tampering with code.
1.10s
By using all types of software, all types of input devices are used. Keyboards for example are used for various types of information being "typed in" a computer.
1.11s
Using various types of programs including but not limited to email requires keyboard proficiency and posture to increase speed. Long hours spent at the computer can lead to problems if correct posture is not used.
1.12s
Being required to submit online assignments requires proficient use of a keyboard and correct punctuation in order to assure readability and understanding.
1.13s
I hope to become more proficient as I continue completing a M.S.
1.14s
This standard was demonstrated in ETEC 525. Our group help design a web quest on copyright issues.
1.15s
When completing abstracts for online courses electronic information has to be cited correctly. Also when writing a grant proposal, any electronic information must be cited so that a person is able to find correct sources
1.16s
Proper etiquette is essential when communicating with people on the WWW. A helpful site for these guidelines is http://www.fau.edu/netiquette/net/
1.17s
While compiling information for a research paper on teacher training, I had to observe how technology effected our society. Throughout the nation I found that technology is being used everywhere. Examples include but are not limited to our nation's capital, schools, libraries, billing offices, and medical care centers.
