Columbine flowers at the Winter Park Ski Lodge.
During winter these slopes are covered with skiers. Summer visitors can
ride the bobsleds, ski lift, or ride the many mountain bike trails wandering throughout
the mountains.
One lift carries bobsledders and sleds to the top of the ride while another
transports visitors to the top of an adjacent peak.
The Ski Train offers "trackside" service to the ski resort.
Here Jennifer relaxes after a day at Winter Park. The train experienced
a rare delay in departure when a group of riders were caught at the top of the bobsled
ride when a storm blew in. They were not permitted to ride down during the storm and
the train was held until they could be retrieved by van. The Union Pacific Railroad
granted us a 10 minute departure delay and those stranded on the mountain were safely
delivered to the train in time for the return trip.
I took advantage of the delay to grab another shot of the motive power.
