The end of the train trailing into the Big Ten Curve. |

Entering one of the tunnels. |
|
Photograph of the interior of one of the tunnels. This rock face is
typical of the tunnel linings. Some of the tunnels have partial concrete
linings. Note: The background for this page was extracted from this photograph. |
|
View of Gross Reservoir from the train. Gross Reservoir is a water
supply lake for the Denver Metropolitan Area. |
|
My wife, Jennifer, who is generally not as interested in trains as me,
thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and even went as far as saying that she wouldn't mind going
again! (Condsider this trip HIGHLY recommended!) |
|
Another view inside one of the tunnels. This is the typical contour of
the rock interior. You wouldn't want to hang your head out too far... some of those
bumps get close! The smokeyness is from the engines' exhaust. |

Threading through another tunnel. |
|
One of several rock fences along the route. The fences serve as catchers
of the smaller rocks and trigger warning indicators to notify trains in the event a large
rock breaks through the fence and makes it to the rails. ...Nice safety feature to
have on this line. |

Coming out of a tunnel. |

The rails enjoy the company and scenic beauty of South Boulder Creek for
several miles of the journey. |
