Gliding down the grade and passing through another of the 27 tunnels in the Tunnel District.

The trip affords many views of the beautiful South Boulder Creek which are inaccessible by any other means.  (Rock climbers exempt)

rgst065-Tunnel-s.jpg (18470 bytes)

In this photo, one tunnel can be seen clearly, and the following tunnel is partly obscured by the distant trees.  Between the tunnels, the fill can be seen on which the railroad is built.

Believe me, around these trees is a wonderful view of Gross Reservoir.   The trees moved, I swear they did...  ;-)
rgst068-Tunnel-1969-s.jpg (10869 bytes) The concrete portal facing was added to this tunnel in 1969.
rgst069-Tunnel-s.jpg (16990 bytes) Entering another tunnel...

rgst070-Tunnel-s.jpg (15857 bytes)

Exiting a tunnel.  Many of the tunnels are very close together and it's not uncommon for the train to be in two tunnels at the same time.
