Technology Application Standards For All Beginning Teachers
For this standard I completed a class called "Online Research Applications." We were taught how to acquire information from the WWW from a variety of search engines that I use on a regular basis. They include: www.yahoo.com, www.google.com, www.excite.com. |
Learning the appropriate search strategies and using +, -, AND, and OR as suggested in STARFISH have helped me narrow many searches on different Internet sites. Also, these skills help me find information when looking through many databases of information such as lesson plans. |
I have used several different types of files, including appropriate formatting and graphics, when creating web pages and other projects for graduate courses at Texas A&M University. |
When using the computer at home and when teaching, a lot of information must be transferred from different computers. Manipulating this information from secondary storage devices such as disks and internet files makes it easier to transport. |
When my computer has certain "bugs," I have often had to seek help from online sources to access programs that can fix the problems that I am having such as not being able to connect to the internet at all times, or not being able to run my email program efficiently. |
It seems that I am opening, saving, printing, book marking, etc. almost everyday when using software programs. |
By comparing dates and authors of web sites, I have been able to validate information on multiple sources. |
In a graduate class we discussed what to look for in the quality of online publications. Some of the areas discussed were accountability, bias, currency, and integrity of the sites. |
