Matt Wood Astronomy Home

Matt Wood AstronomerI'm a professor and department head for the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Texas A&M University-Commerce. I am an astronomer with a research focus of cataclysmic variable stars, astrophysical fluid dynamics, and white dwarf evolution and pulsations. See the links at left for additional information.

A&M-Commerce is a member of the Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA) Telescope Consortium. SARA consists of 13 university members who jointly operate three 1-meter class research-grade telescopes at premier observatories around the globe (SARA-KP in Arizona, USA; SARA-RM on La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain; and SARA-CT in Chile). Our membership provides ~60 nights per year of remote access to consortium telescopes for our students and faculty.

I am the author of Python and Matplotlib Essentials for Scientists and Engineers, available here.
